For the next couple weeks writing class will consist of:
Both 5th and 6th grade writing classes will be learning about the 6 traits of writing. The 6 traits are important for the students to learn because it is used throughout their education and it is what the students are graded on.
The 6 traits include:
Ideas: Is the message clear? Are there interesting details to support the message?
Organization: Are events in order? Are all lose ends tied up before closing?
Voice: Are true thoughts communicated? Personal tone shine through?
Word Choice: Are the words descriptive? Were words used to expand and strengthen the ideas?
Sentence Fluency: Do the sentences vary in length and style? Do the words flow smoothly?
Conventions: Punctuation, spelling, and grammar
