From the Desk of Mr. Shad W. Geller

4th Grade Teacher, Paramount Academy

August 13, 2007

Dear Parents,

I am excited to have your child in my 4th grade class. This year will be filled with many challenges, learning opportunities, and hopefully some fun along the way. I cannot wait to meet you and your child. As most of you know, this will be my fifth year of teaching at Paramount Academy and my seventh year as an elementary school teacher. I feel very honored to be working at such a great facility and amongst such a great community. I believe that your child’s success can be achieved through the cooperation of teachers, positively disciplined students, and supportive parents. With that said, I am looking forward to getting this year started.

Here are some points to consider about the way I operate my classroom and my teaching philosophy. I believe that student success relies greatly on a firm foundation of structure, discipline, effort, and preparation. In order to facilitate the previously mentioned criterion, I have designed a set of community expectations and a list of rules and consequences that should help aid in the overall success of each student in my classroom. Please read the attached forms carefully. Sign, date, and fill out all of the attached forms and return them, with your child, to me as soon as possible.  My philosophy is founded on the basis of, respecting yourself, others and things in order to promote a positive and pro-social learning environment. My goal is academic success for your child. During the first few weeks of school, I will spend a considerable amount of time reviewing my expectations and rules and consequences with the class so that every student is clear on what is expected of them. Assignments that are not finished in class will be considered homework. Generally, assignments are due the next time class meets after the assignment is given. If you need to talk with me, please call and set up an appointment and I will be glad to discuss matters with you. Remember that anytime you enter the campus, you need to sign in through the office and obtain a visitor’s pass. This is to help ensure the safety of all of us on the campus. Thank you for your time and support regarding these matters.

In closing, I am excited and looking forward to a wonderful year at Paramount Academy . Please remember to fill out, sign, and date the attached forms, as I need them for my records as soon as possible. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Mr. Shad W. Geller
